KIDS Republicans passed a bill that would restrict at Governor Laura Kelly's emergency powers in a marathon session last night. Some Republicans think that the governor, a Democrat, has overreached by restricting businesses and closing schools. The bill also bans to emergency orders unless top lawmakers approved. It also reportedly includes protections for businesses against lawsuits related to Cove in 19. The bill will most likely be vetoed by Governor Kelly. DHSS reports 967 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kansas City, Missouri, up 40 from Thursday

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 218 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, bringing the statewide total to 11,558 since the outbreak began. Health officials also reported 10 more patients died from the virus. There have now been 671 deaths across Missouri from COVID-19.State health officials cautioned that there could be a higher number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and more deaths reported as more testing becomes available and some counties catch up in reporting.The state said it has tested 172,946 people as of Friday and 6.7% of those tested were positive.The area with the highest concentration of cases remains in the St. Louis area. Data released Friday shows St. Louis County accounts for 4,367 of the 11,558 cases in the state. St. Louis city reports 1,655 cases and St. Charles County reports 722 cases.The DHSS reports 967 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kansas City, Missouri, up 40 from Thursday, and 485 cases in eastern Jackson County, which is an increase of 16 cases. Health officials said there have been 24 deaths in Kansas City, and Jackson County reports 15 total.The state also lists 133 total cases in Clay County (outside of Kansas City), 63 in Platte and 77 in Cass County.
