Meet the AWI chairman webinar is rescheduled

Sheep Central, September 3, 2021

AWI chairman Jock Laurie.

A VIRTUAL meet and greet with Australian Wool Innovation chairman Jock Laurie and some directors has been rescheduled to 13 September.

Wool growers have been encouraged by grower groups to attend the webinar and ask questions of the AWI leader and directors.

Growers had initially been invited to attend the webinar on 7 September to ask Mr Laurie questions; however, this would have clashed with the Schneider Group’s online Wool Connect conference that runs from 7-9 September.

Wool growers have been invited to discuss the latest developments in research, development and marketing of Australian wool on the AWI webinar.

An AWI spokesman said the 13 September webinar will run for an hour from 6pm AEST.

“The chairman and directors will be on the panel.

“The floor is open to wool growers to ask what they want,” the spokesman said.

WoolProducers Australia president Ed Storey encouraged growers to take the opportunity to ask questions in the webinar.

“It’s the time when people need to think about the industry – we’ve got WoolPoll and the (AWI) director elections coming up, so take the opportunity, ask a question and listen.”

Australian Wool Growers Association of Australia president Rob McBride said the industry is in a rebuilding phase and its needed AWI working in the best interests of wool growers across the board.

“So please we ask all wool growers to make a concerted effort to make the time to log on, ask questions or provide questions before it starts, so we can have a full and frank discussion.

“The aim of the exercise is transparency and to get the best out of AWI; we pay taxes for the benefit of our industry for the long-term and we need levy dollars to be achieving what we need for our industry.”

Growers who cannot attend the webinar should also register to get a webinar recording sent to them via email. Questions can be sent in on the day or ahead of time at [email protected].
