The Miami football team goes on the road for the first time this season when the Hurricanes play at Louisville on Saturday night.

The Miami football team will play the first of consecutive primetime games when they travel to Louisville Saturday night. The Hurricanes opened their season with a 31-14 victory over UAB at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. Miami crushed Louisville 52-27 last season at Hard Rock Stadium combining for 945 yards of offense.

Several big plays by each team created a memorable afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium. Louisville returns most of its offensive stars from last season and added junior college wide receiver Braden Smith who had four receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown in Louisville’s 35-21 season-opening win over Western Kentucky.

The Miami football team will give Louisville an entirely new look offensively. The Hurricanes offense was dominant on the ground against UAB with 337 yards rushing and three TDs. Quarterback D’Eriq King provides Miami with its best signal-caller since Brad Kaaya left following the 2016 season.

New offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee has given Miami an identity on offense. Expect a quick tempo and high scoring game from two explosive offenses. Miami showed its explosiveness on the ground against UAB, the passing game needs to catch up. Louisville has shown big-play ability offensively under Scott Satterfield.

Satterfield is in his second season coaching the Cardinals. Louisville finished third nationally in 2019 tied with LSU with 28 plays of 30 yards or more. Miami needs to limit the big plays by the Cardinals on Saturday night. Louisville WR Tutu Atwell had an 80-yard TD reception against Miami in 2019 that was mostly catch and run.

Satterfield was hired by Louisville after building Appalachian State into a Group of Five power. Miami defeated Satterfield and the Mountaineers 45-10 in 2019. Manny Diaz was the Miami defensive coordinator in his first season under Mark Richt. Diaz added the win over Satterfield as a head coach in 2019.

This is only the second time in the history of the ABC Primetime Saturday Night College Football Game of the Week they will be at Louisville. The first was ironically in 2017 against Clemson after Miami and Florida State had to be postponed to later in the season because of Hurricane Irma.

The Louisville Miami football game is being televised by ABC this Saturday because Virginia and Virginia Tech are unable to play this weekend because of a COVID-19 outbreak in Blacksburg. ESPN College GameDay will also be televised from Louisville. Gameday was last in the Derby City in 2017 for Louisville Clemson.

Neither Miami nor Louisville enters the game Saturday night with any significant injuries. Miami lost fourth cornerback Christian Williams earlier this week who it was announced has entered the transfer portal. The timing for losing Williams was tough for Miami facing the tough trio of Louisville WRs, Atwell, Smith and Dez Fitzpatrick.

Williams is the fourth player Miami has lost off the roster since the beginning of August. Star redshirt sophomore defensive end Greg Rousseau and offensive linemen Kai-Leon Herbert and Zalon’tae Hillery all opted out for the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Miami went eight deep on the OL versus UAB.

The five starters on the Miami OL against the Blazers played all but nine snaps. Jakai Clark who played only three snaps against UAB has been elevated to the starting left guard against Louisville replacing Ousman Traore. Clark started the final 12 games of 2019 for Miami at right guard. Expect the OL to continue to evolve.
