UPDATE: Below is a statement issued by Horseheads Central School District following the accident in Erin.

UPDATE: 3:57 P.M. (WETM – TV) – According to the New York State Police they have issued the following statement in regards to a vehicle accident in Erin, New York late Friday night.

The New York State Police investigated a one-car fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Friday, January 17, 2020, at 8:30 p.m. on Langdon Hill Road in the Town of Erin. 

The investigation revealed the vehicle was operating westbound on Langdon Hill Road when the operator lost control and went off the north side of the roadway striking several trees.  A 17-year-old female passenger in the vehicle, Alecia I. Sedlak, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One 17-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center and one 18-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment. 

The 17-year-old female operator and another 17-year-old female passenger were transported by Erway Ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment. The accident is still under investigation.

The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Chemung County Sheriff Department, Erin and Breesport Fire Department and Erway Ambulance.

ERIN, N.Y. (WETM -TV) – A vehicle involved in an accident Friday night in the Chemung County Town of Erin smashed into a tree, according to a Breesport Firefighter.

The crash happened before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Staples Road and Langdon Hill Road.

New York State Police, local fire departments, and Erway Ambulance have responded. There are unknown injuries’ at this time.

The road is currently blocked off to traffic.
