Around 1,100 Jaguars and Lancers celebrated their accomplishments from the past four years — and are now on to the next adventures of their lives.
Cabrillo and Lakewood high schools held their class of 2022 commencement ceremonies on Wednesday evening, June 15.
Both schools are part of the Long Beach Unified School District. Cabrillo’s ceremony was at its football stadium, while Lakewood’s was at Long Beach City College’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Cabrillo had an estimated 406 graduates, as of early May, according to LBUSD. Lakewood had an estimated 700.
The Cabrillo Jaguars and Lakewood Lancers, during their commencement ceremonies, donned the traditional caps and gowns. They walked the stage and received their diplomas as friends and family cheered them on. It was a celebratory end to what was a more-challenging-than-usual high school experience — which included more than a year of virtual and hybrid learning because of the coronavirus pandemic.
But they did it. They graduated high school. And now, the Jaguars and Lancers will take on their next adventures.
