HALLTOWN, Mo. – A woman has died after a fatal car crash two miles west of Halltown on I-44 Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred when the vehicle went off the road into the median then crossed the road again and struck an embankment and overturned.
The victim was identified as 88-year-old Ruth King of Wichita, Kansas.
King was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield where she was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The driver of the vehicle remains hospitalized at Mercy with serious injuries.
