LEWISTON — A COVID-19 outbreak has been identified in the Winona County city of Lewiston.

Using contact tracing, the Winona County Health and Human Services department has traced the outbreak to several gatherings where individuals were in attendance who were infectious during that time and may have been contagious even if nonsymptomatic, according to a statement from Winona County HHS.

The gatherings include an unorganized game of basketball at Crossings Center in Lewiston on July 26, a morning football camp and evening basketball camp at Lewiston-Altura High School on July 27 and July 28, a 7-on-7 football game at Paul Giel Field in Winona on July 29, an evening basketball camp at Lewiston-Altura High School on July 30, an unorganized basketball game at Crossings Center on July 30, and the Lewiston Farmers Market on July 29. The farmers market gathering has a lower risk of transmission, the statement from Winona County HHS noted.

Anyone in attendance at any of the following events is asked to get tested for COVID-19, and it is recommended those individuals quarantine for 14 days even if the test results are negative.

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 should speak with contact tracers from Winona County. Please return their calls. Contact tracers play a key role in slowing the spread of this virus.
