CHINA SPRING, TX — A community gathered together to voice their opinions after a solar farm projected for China Spring sparked concern.
Glory Leasing, the developer of the solar farm project, invited people in China Spring to China Spring High School for the town hall meeting to discuss the details of the project.
After the news broke last month regarding the nearly 800-acre solar farm, now called Markum Solar, neighbors said they felt blindsided and weren't consulted on the plans.
At the meeting, representatives walked around with people discussing one-on-one different factors of the project.
"I think it's gone great. I've had a lot of awesome questions, met a lot of interesting people, and I hope I was able to be a little informative, that's what I'm here to do" said Owen Toland with the Markum Solar Project.
Markum Solar is scheduled to be built on property south of the Bosque County line and north of China Spring Road.
"I think those concerns have been put to rest for me at this time, it's not a problem for me. I think it's kind of neat actually," said China Spring resident John Tibbs.
Developers said the county and the school district still need to vote on the project in the next few weeks before the they can move forward.
If it's approved, work is expected begin fall of next year.
