The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has set up a hotline for people who are concerned about whether they need to be tested and where testing is available.
That number is 1-888-264-2256.
The ADPH also maintains a map of all ADPH-affiliated testing sites statewide, which can be seen by clicking here, clicking on the “test sites” tab at the bottom, then resizing the map until the individual test sites are visible. Click on a red icon to view information about a test site.
ADPH also still recommends anyone with symptoms like fever, cough and other respiratory issues to contact their physician, rather than showing up at a hospital ER or a doctor’s office.
COVID-19 testing through an ADPH-managed site is free with a referral from a health care provider. For other sites, including private practices and urgent care centers, patients should contact their insurance provider to find out whether testing is covered.

Testing sites
Birmingham: UAB Medicine opened an appointment-only drive-thru testing site at the Environmental Sciences Laboratory parking lot at University Boulevard and 22nd Street South. This screening location is for those who think they may have COVID-19. To make an appointment or for further information, call 205-975-1881.
Cahaba Medical Care offers curbside coronavirus testing at its West End clinic, 1308 Tuscaloosa Avenue, Birmingham. The clinic sees any patients with symptoms of possible respiratory illness and provides COVID-19 testing to patients who meet testing criteria. For cubside testing, patients must pre-register online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CMCcurbsideWE. For additional information, call 205-679-6325 or visit cahabamedicalcare.com.
Christ Health operates a testing center in Woodlawn, at 5705 First Ave. North. The clinic is open by appointment only. Those seeking care should text SICK to 74000 to begin the pre-screening process, to make an appointment and be screened over the phone by a nurse.
Acton Quick Care Clinic offers coronavirus testing for healthcare workers who provide direct patient care. Testing is available by first scheduling a telemedicine appointment by texting or calling 205-525-6133; texting is preferred. More information at actonquickcare.com
Huntsville: Huntsville Hospital operates a drive-thru testing site in John Hunt Park off Jaycee Way, near Joe Davis Stadium. The hospital plans to operate the clinic 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays, pending testing supply availability. Anyone interested in being tested must first have authorization from a doctor that a test is needed. Those needing testing need to bring a photo ID, driver’s license and health insurance card along with a doctor’s testing order. People who do not have a doctor’s order can visit Huntsville Hospital’s Fever & Flu Clinic at 120 Governors Drive.
Mobile: Diagnostic and Medical Clinic, an affiliate of Infirmary Health, offers appointment-only drive through medical evaluations for people with fever, cough or trouble breathing at 1700 Springhill Avenue and 831C Hillcrest Avenue, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Those exhibiting symptoms are encouraged to call at (251) 435-1106 to speak to a clinician. USA Health offers appointment-only drive-thru testing at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Patients wanting to be tested should call 1-888-872-2650, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. to be screened. If a patient meets testing criteria, the patient will be given an appointment time.
Appointment-only testing is available at Greater Mobile Urgent Care, 2350 Schillinger Road, Mobile, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Anyone wishing to be tested must call first to schedule a telemedicine appointment, and then a testing appointment will be scheduled afterward. Information is available at 251-633-0123.
Montgomery: Baptist Health in Montgomery operates an appointment-only screening and testing clinic on East Boulevard at Marti Lane. Patients with symptoms of coronavrius who believe they need testing can call 334-747-0150 to make an appointment. After being asked a series of questions, if a person meets certain criteria the person will be instructed to go to the clinic at a specific time and park in one of 10 designated spaces. Patients will remain in their vehicles while being screened and tested.
Anniston: Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center (RMC) operates a drive-thru coronavirus screening and specimen collection center at 230 E 10th Street in the parking lot of the Medical Arts Building. This testing clinic is only for patients who have been referred for testing by their primary health provider. Once a patient gets a referral from his or her doctor, RMC will contact the patient to schedule a screening slot. The drive-thru screening site will be open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Information is available at 256-235-5600.
Appointment-only testing is available at Southern Immediate Care in Anniston, 4100 McClellan Boulevard. Patients must call to make an appointment, 256-568-8818.
Auburn: EAMC operates an appointment-only testing clinic at EAMC Healthplus, 1171 Gatewood Drive, Auburn, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Anyone wishing to be tested must call for screening and must have an appointment. More information is available at 334-528-SICK.
Baldwin County: Appointment-only testing is available at North Baldwin Infirmary, 2115 Hand Avenue in Bay Minette. Anyone wishing to be tested must first call for an appointment, 251-341-2819.
The Baldwin County Health Department offers testing on April 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 23280 Gilbert Drive, Robertsdale. More information is available at 251-347-1910. People qualify for testing if they 1) have symptoms like fever, cough or shortness of breath, and 2) if they are age 65 or older, a healthcare worker or a person with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma or cancer.
Bibb County: Drive-through testing for COVID-19 is available at Cahaba Medical Care, 195 Hospital Drive in Centreville. The clinic sees any patients with symptoms of possible respiratory illness and provides COVID-19 testing to patients who meet testing criteria. Sick patients should use the “specialty clinic” check-in and waiting room area, separate form the main clinic lobby. For information, call 205-926-2992.
Chambers County: EAMC operates an appointment-only testing clinic at EAMC-Lanier, 4800 48th Street, Valley. Testing is open 10 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. EST Monday-Friday. Anyone wishing to be tested must call for a screening and must have an appointment, 334-528-SICK.
Cullman: Testing is available 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Friday at Cullman Regional Screening Site, 1958 Alabama Highway 157. Patients must be pre-screened by a healthcare provider, and the healthcare provider must make an appointment for testing. More information is available at 256-735-5530.
Etowah County: Appointment-only testing is available at Southern Immediate Care, 956 Gilberts Ferry Road in Attalla, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Patients must call first and testing is only available with an appointment, 256-568-8818.
Fairhope: 3Circle Church is offering limited coronavirus testing at 10274 Alabama Highway 104-A in Fairhope. Testing is limited to those experiencing symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, as well as people age 65 and over, or people with chronic health conditions. Lineup begins at 7:30 a.m.
Fort Payne: Testing is available 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday at DeKalb Regional Medical Center, 421 Medical Center Drive SW, Fort Payne. Anyone wanting to be tested must call for an appointment, 256-997-2708.
Hale County: Testing is available at Hale County Hospital, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, at 508 Greene Street in Greensboro. Information is available at 334-507-3815.
Hoover: Testing is available at Ross Bridge Medical Center, 3635 Market Street in Hoover, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Appointments must be scheduled online at www.covidalabama.com. After a telemedicine consultation, a healthcare provider will schedule a testing time at the clinic. More information is available at 205-92COVID.
Jackson County: Northeast Alabama Health Services Inc. offers COVID-19 testing at its centers in several towns and communities, including Bryant, Section, Scottsboro, Fyffe, Woodville and Fort Payne. Marengo County: Testing is available at Whitfield Regional Hospital, 105 U.S. Highway 80 East, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Testing is located on Walnut Street in the hospital parking lot. More information is available at covid19@bwwmh.com.
Marion: Cahaba Medical Care offers COVID-19 testing at is Respiratory Virus Evaluation Clinic, 1303 Washington Street in Marion. The clinic sees any patients with symptoms of possible respiratory illness and provides COVID-19 testing to patients who meet testing criteria. More information is available at 334-247-1006. Sick patients should use the side-entrance check-in and waiting room area.
Monroe County: Testing is available while supplies last at Monroe County Hospital, 2016 South Alabama Avenues in Monroeville, 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m., seven days a week. Anyone wishing to be tested should call first, 251-575-3111.
Moulton: Testing is available 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday at Lawrence Medical Center, 220 Hospital Street, Moulton, while supplies last. More information is available at 256-974-2286.
Prattville: Baptist Health operates an appointment-only Coronavirus Care Clinic in the Montgomery area at 350 County Road 4 West in Prattville, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., seven days a week. People with symptoms should call 334-747-0150 to see if they need to schedule an appointment for drive-up testing. Symptoms include fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, cough, shortness of breath.
Trussville: Testing is available at Trussville Urgent Care, 1960 Gadsden Highway, 9 am.-4 p.m., seven days a week. Anyone wishing to be tested must call first, 205-655-1016.
Tuscaloosa: DCH Regional in Tuscaloosa offers coronavirus screening available in the parking lot just west of Dr. Edward Hilliard Drive. Screening is available 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday as testing supplies last, and on weekend hours depending on staff availability. The hospital says it is facing a “critically low” supply of testing materials, and may run out. The drive-up testing area may also be closed in the rain due to lack of cover.
Uniontown: Cahaba Medical Care will conduct drive-through COVID-19 testing on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Dollar General in Uniontown, 100 Front Street. Testing resources are scarce, so tests will be limited to those with symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath; an employer mandate; and/or significant exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Anyone wishing to be tested is required to pre-register online at : www.cahabamedicalcare.com.
Wetumpka: A COVID Collection Clinic is located at 500 Hospital Drive in Wetumpka, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. Anyone wishing to be tested should call for an appointment, 334-514-3713.
Statewide: The Alabama Department of Public Health has set up testing sites in some counties. Anyone who believes they need testing should call the ADPH hotline at 1-888-264-2256 for information about where and when to go. Anyone who believes they have symptoms of COVID-19 is encouraged to call their healthcare provider to ask whether they need to be tested.
MainStreet Family Care, which operates a chain of clinics in central and south Alabama, began offering COVID-19 testing this week to patients who meet certain criteria.
Testing for children
COVID-19 testing is available for patients ages 0-21 at Urgent Care for Children clinics, located in Birmingham, Trussville, Vestavia Hills, Madison and Tuscaloosa.

Tests are offered curbside to minimize exposure of other patients.
