Being the first track and lead single of NCT 127’s second repackage album Neo Zone: The Final Round, “Punch” is a strong multi-layered song with catchy lyrics as well as a unique synth that alludes to the music presented in a boxing arcade game.
Throughout the song, the lyrics mention how the members are able to overcome their hardships and loneliness when they persevere and unite to fight together. In an interview with SCMP’s Style magazine, MARK mentioned that “Punch” is a follow-up of the storyline presented in 127’s previous single, “영웅 (英雄; Kick It).”
The teaser of the single was released on May 17th and it was followed by the music video on May 19th, the same day the album was released on official streaming platforms.
