AUSTIN, TX β€” Sometimes a guy, or gal, just needs to get away and needs a good, stiff drink. The two goals can be accomplished in one fell swoop this coming Sunday during the second annual Mesquiteers Festival hosted by Desert Door in nearby Driftwood, Texas.

The free event on Aug. 18 will feature fellow mesquiteers Miche Bread and Two Hives Honey at the Desert Door distillery. "Celebrating the revival of Texas mesquite, Mesquiteers Fest provides an all-encompassing experience of the Texas Mesquite Movement through food, drink, and more," organizers wrote invitingly.

This event is both kid- and pet-friendly, and entry is free with RSVP. Attendees can enjoy pop-ups to learn more about mesquite and attend live cooking demonstrations courtesy of Hideaway Kitchen & Bar. Starting at 3 p.m., there will be live music by Juliet McConkey. Those arriving at noon or 1 p.m. also can participate in a Desert Door distillery tour, organizers added.
