Barbosa is an employee of the Corpus Christi Independent School District. Galvan Elementary School's website shows she is a fifth grade teacher.

"Barbosa confessed to engaging in the communications with a person she knew to be a minor," the document reads. "Additionally she confessed to sending that minor child nude images of herself, and in turn the child sent a nude image of himself to her."

The age of the child is not disclosed in the document. It is unknown if the minor was a student at the school where she teaches.

Authorities arrested Barbosa on suspicion of possession/promotion of child pornography and selling/distributing/displaying harmful material to a minor, documents state.

She posted a $76,000 bond Tuesday, records show.

Barbosa is on administrative leave with pay, per district procedure, CCISD spokeswoman Leanne Libby said.

“CCISD prioritizes safety and takes allegations of wrongdoing seriously,” Libby said in an email. “The district is cooperating with authorities during the ongoing investigation.“

Anyone who has information to share with police is encouraged to call 361-888-8477, Libby said.
