Dressed in navy blue scrubs, the health care worker stepped into the sunny parking lot of Newark’s Saint Michael’s Medical Center on Wednesday and stood on line with dozens of her colleagues to pick up free PPE and get a break from a hectic day inside the hospital.
“Thank you so much. We just finished coding,” the employee told Rhonda Roland Shearer, a New York City sculptor and philanthropist who founded Cut Red Tape 4 Heroes, a nonprofit that gives much needed personal protective equipment to hospital workers.
