The Seattle Seahawks made two big moves affecting their roster.

The Seahawks signed defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the active roster, the team announced Monday. The Seahawks also placed tight end Greg Olsen on the injured reserve list.

The signing of Harrison confirmed what everyone thought would happen when the Seahawks signed him to their practice squad Oct. 7 - eventually the Seahawks would sign him to the active roster. Harrison was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster and played in his first game as a Seahawks in Week 10 against the Rams. He was elevated again and played last Thursday against the Cardinals.

According to NFL rules, a player can’t be elevated from the practice squad to the active roster more than twice during the season or postseason. The Seahawks had to sign Harrison to the active roster or leave him on the practice roster, where he could have been signed by another team.

The Seahawks’ decision to sign Harrison Monday could have pushed forward after the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens - two teams in need of help against the run - tried to sign him off the Seattle’s practice squad on Monday, according to a report.

To create room for Harrison, the Seahawks placed Olsen on the injured reserve list, meaning he will miss at least three weeks. Olsen suffered a fascia tear in his left foot during the game against the Cardinals. Whether Olsen returns to play for the Seahawks this season is unknown.
