Wallace “Wally” Humphrey

Wallace “Wally” Norman Humphrey, 83, of Cass Lake, MN died Saturday, October 24, 2020 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 30, 2020 at Bena Community Center (old housing) in Bena, MN. A wake will begin at 3:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Bena Community Center and go until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Bena, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

He was born December 16, 1936 in Squaw Lake, MN the son of George and Mamie (Tuttle) Humphrey. He was raised in Bena, and graduated from Boy River High School with honors. He was a star basketball player in high school. He attended Haskell University in Kansas for 2 years. He served in the US Army during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1962. He began work with Indian Health Services shortly after serving. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending pow-wows. He was Cass Lake Bena Panthers #1 fan in all sports.

He is survived by his children Wallis, Steven, Thomas, Annie, Esther, and Charles Humphrey; sisters, Violet Reyes, Esther (Ted) Bogda, and Avis Poupart; brother Frank Humphrey; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Lawrence, Raymond, and Wilbur, sister Dolly Evans, and infant sister Florence Humphrey.
