PIERRE, S.D. — The number of newly reported infections of coronavirus in South Dakotans fell Monday, as did the number of new tests, the South Dakota Department of Health reported.
Only 198 new positive COVID-19 cases were reported to the South Dakota Department of Health on Sept. 28.
Current hospitalizations also fell by seven to 209, though that could trend upward again along with an increase in positive cases overall later in the week, according to past data trends.
There are 3,828 active COVID-19 cases in the state.
Secretary of Health Kim Malsam-Rysdon said 33 hospitals were taking care of COVID-19 patients, with one hospital providing care to as many as 40 COVID-19 positive patients.
