Four injured in crash after Miller County chase

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A passenger suffered serious injuries in a crash following a chase by Miller County deputies early Friday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol's online crash report says deputies were chasing a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero carrying four people a little before 3 a.m. on Cotton Road near Barnhart Drive when Preston Cash, 22, of Sedalia, lost control of the car and went off the road. The car ended up on its roof, the patrol says.

Cash had moderate injuries, as did two passengers: Zackery Lage, 19, of Strafford, Missouri, and Sydney Smoot, 19, of Eldon. A 35-year-old passenger, Douglas Cornelius of Eldon, suffered serious injuries. All four were taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance.

None of the people in the car were wearing seatbelts, according to the crash report.

It wasn't clear how the chase began.
