“The State of Hockey’s biggest day is coming to the State of Hockey’s biggest city, and we are just ecstatic,” Minneapolis organizing committee chairperson Scott Rusert said on air. “Just so, so thrilled about it, and we’re honored to be following the long line of great hosts that have come before. … We’re just thrilled. We’ve got an amazing setting.”
The rink will be back-dropped by the famous sculpture garden and the Minneapolis skyline. The Minneapolis showcase will be the first metro Hockey Day Minnesota since the event was in Stillwater in 2017. St. Paul hosted it in 2015.
“It’s our chance to showcase more than a century of Minneapolis hockey history,” Rusert said, “and then some amazing diversity that we have in our youth hockey association.”
