Charles E. Seward


Charles E. Seward, 68, a resident of Smyrna since 1989, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, February 18, 2019, at his home.
Throughout his childhood years, Charles lived in many parts of the United States due to the fact that his father was in the military. Charles was also a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge he was employed for many years by the New York State Dept. of Corrections.
In 1989 he and his wife moved to Smyrna where they continued to make their home. He was a former Judge for the Town of Smyrna, had driven bus for the Sherburne-Earlville School district as well as for the Norwich City Schools and Town and Country Transit. He was also a member of the Smyrna Fire Dept. since 1992.
On June 5, 1988 he married Clare Armstrong who survives. Besides his wife Clare, Charles is survived by his children; Melissa Fehr of New Port, NC, Chad Seward of Gatesville, NC and Jennifer Seward of Seafford, VA. Also surviving are his siblings Amanda Seward of Kenoza Lake, NY, Darla Jean Seward-Halpern of Lafayette, NY and Jeffrey Seward of FL along with 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his son Jason Seward and his brother Arthur Seward.
A Celebration of Life for Charles will be held on Sunday, March 3, at 1:00 pm from the Sherburne American Legion.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
