Who is Jeremy Pruitt's favorite musician? And which SEC coach picked Notorious B.I.G.?

Knoxville

When it comes to music, Tennessee Vols football coach Jeremy Pruitt enjoys songs about summertime, tequila and sexy tractors — basically, all "The Good Stuff."

When asked by sports news outlet The Stadium, Pruitt listed Kenny Chesney as his favorite musical act — along with seven other FBS coaches — making the Knoxville native the most popular musician in college football.

Eric Church and Dave Matthews Band took second and third place, respectively.

Country dominates the SEC

All 130 FBS head coaches and 10 conference commissioners were asked to name their favorite musical act, which could be a solo artist or a band.

They were only allowed to make one choice, although Marshall coach Doc Holiday was the only party pooper who said he didn't have a favorite.

But not picking a band is probably better than admitting your favorite artist is Oliver (I'm looking at you, ACC Commissioner John Swofford).

Here are the seven other coaches who also picked Chesney:

  • Luke Fickell, Cincinnati
  • Randy Edsall, UConn
  • Matt Wells, Texas Tech
  • Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern
  • Ryan Day, Ohio State
  • Skip Holtz, Louisiana Tech
  • Scot Loeffler, Bowling Green

Pruitt was the only SEC coach to pick the Knoxville country star, but these picks show he's not the only conference coach who is a fan of the genre:

  • Chad Morris, Arkansas - George Strait
  • Kirby Smart, Georgia - Luke Bryan
  • Mark Stoops, Kentucky - Toby Keith
  • Barry Odom, Missouri - George Strait
  • Matt Luke, Ole Miss - Jason Aldean
  • Will Muschamp, South Carolina - Darius Rucker
  • Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M - George Strait

Biggie Biggie Biggie: A pick we didn't see

SEC coaches don't enjoy banging their heads as hard as Georgia State's Shawn Elliot, who picked Metallica and, admittedly, caused Vols fans to bang their heads against the hardest surface they could find earlier this season.

But these SEC coaches still like to rock:

  • Nick Saban, Alabama – Eagles
  • Gus Malzahn, Auburn – The Cars
  • Dan Mullen, Florida – U2
  • Ed Orgeron, LSU – Creedence Clearwater Revival

SEC commissioner Greg Sanskey also picked U2, while Vanderbilt's Derek Mason chose Marvin Gaye.

That just leaves Mississippi State coach Joe Moorehead with, arguably, the most surprising pick in all of college football: The Notorious B.I.G.
