WYOMING, MI -- A 34-year-old woman was shot to death Friday afternoon while walking along a sidewalk in Wyoming.
The person who killed the woman fled on foot after the shooting and remains at-large, according to Wyoming Police Lt. Eric Wiler.
The shooting was reported around 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, in the 900 block of Burton Street SW after people told emergency dispatchers they heard gunshots and saw a person down on the sidewalk, Wiler said.
Police believe the woman was walking on the sidewalk when she was shot, he said. She was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting, Wiler said.
People are asked to avoid Burton Street SW between Clyde Park Avenue and Godfrey Avenue while detectives investigate the area of the shooting.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the Wyoming Department of Public Safety at 616-530-7366 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
