JNB Machining Co. in Fowlerville is gearing up for a 28,000 square foot expansion of their manufacturing facility at 195 National Park Drive, shown Monday, Aug. 19, 2019.

Auto parts and products maker JNB Machining Co. will expand one of their Fowlerville manufacturing facilities.

"The economy is good and work has increased," co-owner Dennis Russ said.

Company officials are gearing up to expand one of their buildings at 195 National Park Drive in the village by more than 28,000 square feet.

"We have new projects," Russ said. "We've been in Fowlerville since the early '90s, and the building we are expanding onto was built new three years ago," Russ said.

He said the larger facility will increase production capacity and allow them to purchase new equipment.

The company has been supplying parts and products to the automotive manufacturing industry since 1991, including engines, cast iron cylinder heads, intake manifolds, transmission parts and other parts.

The company currently has four buildings in the Fowlerville area and about 45,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

Russ said all of the new projects are automotive-related but declined to comment on the specific nature of the projects.

He said the expansion and new equipment will cost more than $1 million.

"We will be hiring," he said. "Right now we're at about 105 employees, and we'll probably add 10-15 when the expansion is done."

He anticipates breaking ground on the addition within the next 90 days and completing it in about four months.

The village's planning commission unanimously approved a final site plan for the expansion at a meeting last week.

"The Village of Fowlerville is excited with the expansion of JNB Machining," Fowlerville Village Manager and Clerk Kathryn Arledge said.

"They have been a business in Fowlerville for years and working with them has been a pleasure, and I am thankful they continue to call Fowlerville their home, Arledge said. "I take pride in the trust the Village of Fowlerville has established with them and other businesses in the community. To build a community, you must start by building trust."

She said the expansion is permitted within the village's light industrial district.

"The village has been very good to deal with," Russ said.
