Fine jewelry brand launches debut collection of dainty power pieces
Nine Golden Swans launched its debut fine jewelry collection, Nights in Shining Armour, in summer 2021. The line features a dozen dainty power pieces - small treasures that deliver a dazzling impact.
"I wanted to create a line of wearable, everyday fine jewelry that flirts with the past and feels just right for the present," said the brand's founder and designer Jessica Barker. "The collection is inspired by the noble art of heraldry, where shields and the symbols upon them contribute a sense of identity, protection, and courage - and it's a reflection of the intoxicating feeling of dancing under the stars."
The Nights in Shining Armour collection features pieces made with recycled 14K yellow gold, lab-grown diamonds, green moissanites and Montana sapphires. The jewelry is packaged in eco-friendly materials like recycled and recyclable cardboard to help minimize post-consumer waste.
"With our first collection, we're joining a movement of conscious creators and consumers who aim to celebrate beauty without causing harm or supporting unethical practices, and we're constantly learning and striving to improve our process as we grow," Barker said.
Barker began Nine Golden Swans in early 2020, quickly evolving it from a jewelry blog to an online source for vintage jewelry amid the pandemic. It was not long before she returned to her design roots and began developing the brand's first collection in the fall of 2020.
The Nights in Shining Armour collection is bold and strong in style, yet delicate and delightfully tactile when worn. Each original design starts its life in Chicago's historic Jewelers Row and journeys to New York City's iconic Diamond District where it's made to order by hand by master jewelers. Necklace and earring styles include the Diamond Dust Shield Pendant, Absinthe Pendant, Disco Chain, and Starlet Hoop Charms.
"Look closely and you'll find inspiration from my English heritage and design history studies. I love shaking the dust off of timeless motifs, playing with movement and light, and injecting feel-good vibes into fine jewelry," Barker said. "My hope is that these are pieces you'll feel good in - and materials you'll feel good about - for years to come."
In addition to the collection launch, summer marked another exciting change for the business: Barker relocated from the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago to Geneva, Illinois in July. "I'm thrilled to call Geneva home and become a part of its vibrant business community," she added.
