Cop Calls: Youth sent to detention center after altercation with mom

The following incidents are from recent police reports obtained through public records requests. The News-Messenger does not publish the names of suspects charged with misdemeanor offenses:

Nov. 1: Police were called to the 300 block of Bidwell Avenue at 12:16 a.m. for a domestic violence report. Police arrested a man at the address on a charge of domestic violence. The mother of a woman at the resident had called police and reported the man had hit her daughter. The daughter at the address denied being hit and said there was a verbal argument. She admitted she sent a text to her mother that she had been hit. After discussion, the daughter admitted the man had bitten her arm. The man told police the woman at the address attacked him when he took away a cell phone. He had various scratches and he said she pulled his hair. He said he bit her during one of the attacks. His injuries were photographed. He was arrested and transferred to the county jail.

Nov. 1: Police responded to Knobby Drive for a domestic violence complaint. Officers arrested a youth on a charge of domestic violence. At the location, police spoke to a youth who reported her mother had left and gone to work. She said she and her mother had a verbal and physical altercation over friends staying over. The youth said her mother slapped her. Police contacted the parent by phone. The mother confirmed she had confronted her daughter about friends staying over and the youth became violent, throwing items, hitting her and attempting to wrestle her at the front door in an attempt to leave the home. The youth also grabbed a knife from the kitchen drawer. The parent and youth responded to the police department, where the youth was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Nov. 1: Police responded to the 1100 block of Garrison Street for a domestic call. A woman reported she and her husband were in an argument over a female visitor. The man reported he had his back to his wife during an argument and she pushed him down to the ground, kicking him. He then stood up and pushed her away as she continued to hit him. The visitor at the home confirmed the husband's account. The wife was charged with domestic violence, booked at the police department and taken to jail. The man agreed to fill out a protection order.

Nov. 1: Police responded to the 2000 block of North Ohio 53 for a theft report. Employees said a juvenile had taken $56 in items she did not scan in the self-checkout. The youth was charged and released to another person pending a juvenile court appearance.

Nov. 3: Police responded to the the 1000 block of Christy Road for domestic trouble. A man was arrested on a charge of domestic menacing and transported to the county jail. At the location, a woman reported a man had threatened to kill her. The woman was slurring her words and unsteady, appearing to be intoxicated. The living room was in disarray and there was a large butcher knife on the floor near the woman. She told the police her ex-boyfriend got upset and grabbed the knife and held it at her and said he would beat her brains out. Police talked to the man, who also appeared to be intoxicated. He said he was holding the knife and cut himself when he slammed it on a table. 

Nov. 2: Police responded to the 900 block of East State Street for a possible overdose. Police found an unresponsive male in a motel room. The male was given a dose of naxolone and did not respond. He was given a second dose before EMS responded and took over treatment. He was transported to the ProMedica Emergency room. He was issued an overdose form.

Nov. 3: Police responded to the 100 block of South Buchanan Street for an active burglary with three males inside with guns. A female at the location left the residence and went to a neighbor's home. Police cleared the residence and found no subjects. Police then spoke to the resident, who came back home. She said she was sitting on her couch earlier when a white male came into her living room. When she stood up, she saw a man outside her living room and she heard a third person talking. Police had EMS come and check the woman as her speech was slow and she would nod off while talking. The woman changed her story while speaking to police. EMS did not have enough reason to force her to be transported for medical care. The woman's mother was contacted to come stay with her. The mother reported her daughter had received several shots that affected her behavior.
