Lola Quivoron’s Cannes Winner “Rodeo” Lands at Music Box Films

"Rodeo": Les Films du Losange

Music Box Films have snapped up the North American rights to Lola Quivoron’s “Rodeo,” which recently premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, and won the Coup de Cœur du Jury special prize at the fest. Variety broke the news of the deal.

Written by Quivoron with Antonia Buresi, who also stars, “Rodeo” follows a hot-tempered, rough-around-the-edges young French woman, Julia (newcomer Julie Ledru), who has a passion for motorcycles, and finds herself drawn into the world of the underground dirt bike community.

“Stylish and untamed, ‘Rodeo’ was one of the most energetic films we experienced at Cannes this year. Lola Quivoron’s dynamic depiction of an adrenaline-fueled subculture and Julie Ledru’s indomitable performance announce the arrival of two major new talents on the international film scene,” said Music Box Films’ Brian Andreotti.

Quivoron wrote and directed short films “Son of the Wolf” and “Au loin, Baltimore.” The latter was nominated for the live action short film grand jury prize at AFI Fest. Quivoron and Buresi co-directed the documentary “Headshot: Roulette russe.”
