Royal wedding: Could Beatrice have a second wedding?

PRINCESS BEATRICE and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi tied the knot last year in an intimate and private ceremony. But could Beatrice have a second wedding?

and Edoardo were originally due to marry in May 2020 in a lavish ceremony at St James’s Palace, but the coronavirus pandemic meant that couldn’t go ahead. Instead, the couple opted for a unique and socially distanced wedding ceremony, which was attended by the Queen and Prince Philip alongside a small number of friends and family. At the time, a friend of Beatrice said a big wedding was “out of the question” because of the pandemic.

The friend said: “They were obviously very keen for the Queen to come so the wedding had to happen before she goes up to Balmoral, so this was a great opportunity.

“So many guests were disappointed not to make the big day but understood the reason for it.

“They needed to make the wedding Covid secure and safe for the Queen, so what better way than the All Saints Chapel with the reception on site at the Royal Lodge.

“They are just like a normal family and had to make sacrifices like many others have up and down the country, and are looking forward to having a wonderful celebration when the time is right.”

Could Beatrice have a second wedding?

Beatrice is likely to have a second wedding when the Covid pandemic is over, according to one royal expert.

Royal expert Meadhbh McGrath made the admission on the HeirHeads podcast, saying it was widely understood Beatrice and Edo would celebrate again in 2021.

Beatrice is expected to wear her original wedding dress after wearing the Queen’s redesigned gown for her small ceremony.

Ms McGrath said: “We had heard that Beatrice and Edo would have a second ceremony where she could wear her original dress which she had planned for the wedding.”

Ms McGrath, undoubtedly along with royal fans, would love to see the dress Beatrice had originally intended to wear.

Beatrice said it was an “honour” to wear her grandmother’s loaned Normal Hartnell gown for her revised wedding.

But now Beatrice could get the day she’s always dreamed of if all goes well with the country’s vaccination programme.

Ms McGrath added: “I would like that for her, and a day that is less defined by her grandfather and grandmother.

“[A day] that is just about her and her husband, and her unique sense of style.”

Beatrice and Edo have been dating since Autumn 2018, but the couple have known each other for much longer than that.

Edoardo, who is of Italian descent and belongs to a noble family, proposed to his girlfriend in his native land.

Announcing the engagement, the couple said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and cannot wait to be married.

“We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Edoardo has a son, Wolfie, from a previous relationship, which means Beatrice became a stepmother upon marriage.

Beatrice and Wolfie are reportedly very close, with the youngster making an appearance at his dad’s wedding in July.
