CT Coronavirus Updates: More Than 50,000 Cases Reported

While Connecticut passed a somber milestone, officials said the number of hospitalizations dropped significantly.

CONNECTICUT — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Connecticut now exceed 50,000, according to the latest data shared by the state Department of Public Health.

Connecticut now has 50,062 coronavirus cases, which is an increase of 252 cases from the weekend. The good news is that Connecticut's positive rate remains below 1 percent which is among the nation's lowest transmission rate.

The number of coronavirus related deaths rose by five this weekend and is now at 4,437. And in the good news department, the number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations dropped by 13 down to 56.

More than 35,173 people were administered tests this weekend.
