The Sand Fire, which started Saturday afternoon near the town of Guinda in northwest Yolo County, had burned 2,220 acres as of Sunday evening. The perimeter is indicated by the heavy black line on the map above.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered, including for all residents on County Road 41. The mandatory zone is shown in red on the map above, and the evacuation advisory zone in tan.

Highway 16 is closed between Highway 20 and the town of Brooks.

An evacuation center in Esparto was closed because nobody showed up on Sunday but will be reopened if there is need.

Information boards have been set up at the Guinda Corner Store (7530 Highway 16), Fire Station 23 in Guinda (3794 Highway 16) and the Boy Scout Cabin in Esparto (16980 Yolo Ave.).
