Deaths reported in Minnesota from COVID-19 reached 2,004 on Saturday, with an additional 10 deaths, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

The state reported another 1,478 confirmed infections — a daily record. That increases Minnesota’s total number of cases to 95,659. The actual number of cases is likely much higher as the data only represent those who have been tested for the virus, state officials say.

The number of daily tests reported Saturday — 30,695 — was also record for a single day. Tests were higher on Aug. 18, but they included a backlog of results.

Saturday’s reported deaths consisted of three individuals in their 90s, four in their 80s, one in their 70s and two in their 50s. The deaths occurred in Hennepin, Ramsey, Redwood, Dakota, Isanti, Morrison and St. Louis counties.

Six were from long-term care or assisted-living facilities. Of the cumulative deaths in Minnesota, 72 percent have been in long-term care facilities.

Nearly 90 percent of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 are no longer in isolation. This number does not include deaths.
