Sea of tranquility: What’s hot in home decor in Atlanta

This week in Atlanta, “home as refuge” is inspiring designs and colors across the home accents, rugs, lighting, wall décor, soft goods and tabletop categories. Themes of nature, nurture and serenity are defining texture, material and form, bringing showrooms to life with warm earth tones, natural resources, and all forms of fiber.

Winter greens are trending to the seafoam and celadon end of the spectrum, pairing with well-behaved steel blues and bluesy grays. The gold-red-brown harvest palette is coming on strong (accent on “brown”), and amethyst is taking shape as an interesting color pop.

They’re colors that work well with the natural woods, wickers and rattans comprising everything from lighting to accessories, an incoming wave of botanical and nostalgic themes in wall décor and soft goods, and a plethora of artfully distressed finishes.

A lot of rock stars are also here this week, swirling bands of onyx, marble and alabaster that are dancing across surfaces, fabrics and base materials. Shells, gems and crystals are having a moment as well, embellishing decorative bottles, lighting and tabletops with natural sparkle.

Look to the stars, though, for this season’s biggest sparklers — creations of cosmic compositions, planetary proportions, and alien forms. The home décor universe is being orbited by satellites, moons, stars and other heavenly bodies beckoning buyers with celestial beauties.
