Historic flooding expected along Mill Creek: What to expect
Historic flooding is expected along the Mill Creek in the Evendale area, with flood waters expected to crest at the highest level ever.
Current models show the Mill Creek will crest at 18.17 feet around noon Tuesday. Several businesses in the Evendale area will endure major flood damage as the Cincinnati area is inundated with heavy rains.
Before Tuesday, the highest recorded levels were around 16.8 feet.
The worst flooding will be along Mosteller, Kemper and Canal roads. As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday -- with waters around 15.5 feet -- significant street flooding is occurring in the area.
As the water levels climb, several feet of water is expected in some businesses. When water levels reach 16.5 feet, numerous roads are flooding, including Crescentville, Canal, and Sharon roads. Businesses along the creek in the Sharonville and Evendale areas incur flooding of some buildings and parking lots.
Beyond that, we're in uncharted territory. But flood waters are expected to rapidly dip below flood stage into the evening hours Tuesday.
In total, expect an additional 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain today on top of yesterday's 1.75 inches. The Flash Flood Watch for the entire area continues into the evening, and the rain continues overnight.
For Wednesday we wake up to, yes, more rain. The rain fades for much of the area by midday on Wednesday. In the afternoon plan on gusty winds and cloudy skies. There will be a few spotty showers lingering east of Cincinnati.
Thursday plan on cloudy skies and off and on rain showers. Friday we have a few showers as warmer air works in.
