AUBURN — Arthur L. Fritz Sr., 85, of Auburn, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 10, 2018 at Auburn Community Hospital where he was surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Kenneth A. and Mary H. Leisenring Fritz Sr. Art graduated from East High School in 1951. In 1955 he earned his BA degree from Houghton College in the studies of ministry. Art owned and operated Fritz Construction for 20 years. He enjoyed leading and preaching at baseball chapel for the Auburn Doubledays from 1984 until 2017. In honor of his service he was placed on the Wall of Fame at Falcon Park. Art would also travel to the Dominican Republic to share God’s word and baseball with the athletes there. He was on the board of the Christian radio station Mars Hill Network in Syracuse and actively involved in the ministry at Freedom Village. He also served as an elected official on the Fleming Town Board for eight years. Art also enjoyed bowling, golfing and most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion Fritz; sons, Arthur Fritz Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Auburn, and Adam Fritz and his wife, Julie, of Auburn; three daughters, Deborah Fitzsimmons and her husband, Ed, of Montezuma, Constance Fritz, of Cicero, and Jean Locastro and her husband, Jerry, of Port Byron; brother, Kenneth Fritz Jr., of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Mary Jane Parks and her husband, Hudson, of Caneadea, N.Y.; grandchildren, Edward Fritz, of Florida, Andrew and Matthew Fritz, of Auburn, Brian, Jennifer, and Kaytlin Locastro, of Port Byron, Amanda, Maureen, Eric, Adam, and Joseph Fritz, of Auburn; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Alex Fritz, of Tennessee, and Kinsley Albright, of Auburn.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. There will be visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 in Second Baptist Church, 1 N. Herman Ave., Auburn, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the spring in Lakeview Cemetery, Fleming, at the convenience of the family.
