The perils of scoring political points from natural disasters

I was born in Rochester, a city in the western part of New York state. It snows a lot there, thanks to weather blowing in from Lake Erie to the west. My father, who had lived in western New York for most of his adult life, finally got tired of the cold and snow about 20 years ago, deciding that warmer climes held more appeal.
