Boonsboro puts on beautiful fireworks

I would like to personally thank the town of Boonsboro for the beautiful show of fireworks on Friday. It was a hot July evening perfect for ice cream, funnel cakes, hot dogs and popcorn. It might not have been the traditional celebration that Boonsboro has done in the past. But as I continue to say, give us a challenge and we will respond with an answer.

Part of my family watched the fireworks from the parking lot by the police station. It was a perfect view. There were many people there but social distancing was in action. There were children laughing, playing with Frisbees and throwing balls, and adults were hanging out in the back of pick-up trucks eating popcorn or snacks. It was a perfect evening in a small town that has a lot of community love.

Reminder on farmers marketsHere is a reminder of the guidelines provided by the state of Maryland and the Maryland Department of Agriculture for farmers markets.

Everyone visiting the market is still required to wear a protective face covering that covers the mouth and nose. We know that visitors are outside, it’s hot and the masks can tend to be a nuisance. But if the rules are not followed, the vendors, customers and volunteers could be put at an unnecessary risk.

Please stay home if you are sick. Wash your reusable bags before bringing them to the market.

Enter and exit the market where indicated. Do not walk behind or between the booths. Have exact change if possible or pay electronically. Maintain a 6-foot social distance. Do not touch items you do not think you will be purchasing. Refrain from putting your bags or belongings on tables and follow additional directions from the market staff.

The Boonsboro Farmers Market takes place 4 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday at 241 Potomac Ave.

Preorder if you are able with each vendor. A full list of vendors is available on Facebook at Boonsboro Farmers Market.

The Boonsboro Farmers Market staff and vendors said that they appreciate your patronage and cooperation during these difficult times. “We do not make the rules but we are expected to enforce and follow them to keep the Farmers Market a success and safe place.”
