Verna Lee Malson, a longtime resident of Edgerton, WY, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Charleston, SC. Born March 29, 1937, in Buffalo, WY, to Guy James and Vera (Curtis) Mayer, Verna lived throughout Wyoming until moving with her husband and four sons from Wyoming to Colorado.
She earned her Bachelors degree in Special Education, Masters in Early Learning, and Masters in Special Education. She taught Special Education at the Deer Trail School where she retired. Verna moved back to Midwest//Edgerton after retiring to help operate the Edgerton Café with her husband Jack. She washed dishes, waited tables and managed the café until selling it in 2012. Verna loved learning. She attended college classes throughout her life.
She loved to travel both throughout the US and internationally. One of her favorite places was the ranch she and her brother owned in Kaycee, WY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Malson; her parents; and one sister, Guyla Jean (Mayer) Wilson.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Mayer; sons, Dan, Tom, Mark and Scott Malson; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service honoring her life is pending and will be announced at a later date.
