One injured in single car crash in Northwood

A Hatton man was injured after his vehicle vaulted off a driveway and into a ditch on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Fernando Almanza, 26 of Hatton, was driving southbound on 34th Street Northeast at an undetermined speed when the vehicle drifted off the road into a ditch, the release said.

The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado vaulted over a small driveway and continued south in the ditch, the release said. The vehicle struck two trees and traveled over another driveway before coming to rest on all four tires in the front yard of a residence, the release stated.

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of 34th Street Northeast in Northwood.

Almanza was taken to Northwood Hospital by Northwood Ambulance before being transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The release listed his injuries as “non-life-threatening.”

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
