TN authorities make arrest in fatal hit-and-run in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, TN (WAFF) - Tennessee authorities have made an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run in Lincoln County.

Tennessee State Troopers confirm 25-year-old Zachary Collins was arrested for the hit-and-run and say charges are pending. Tennessee State Troopers say it’s unknown if Collins was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

The victim has has been identified as Elbrus Bokiev of Mulberry, Tennessee. Bokiev’s body was found on the side of Highway 50 at Louse Creek on Tuesday. Officials say construction workers found him in a ditch.

A source familiar with the investigation said the Collins was on his way from Fayetteville to Tullahoma when he hit the victim. He reportedly claimed he thought he hit a deer.
