Owings Mills Among Baltimore County Hot Spots For Coronavirus

Among Baltimore County ZIP codes, Owings Mills has some of the most coronavirus cases.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Owings Mills is among the hot spots for coronavirus in Baltimore County. There are 245 people with the virus in the 21117 ZIP code, health officials reported Tuesday.

Overall, Baltimore County is reporting 3,430 cases and 142 deaths, with another 15 deaths believed to be related to COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, with test results pending.

Baltimore County has the third highest number of coronavirus cases in the state Tuesday among Maryland's 24 jurisdictions, based on state health data. Prince George's has the most confirmed cases, with more than 7,800, and Montgomery County, with more than 5,500. Baltimore City has the fourth-highest number with more than 2,600, followed by Anne Arundel County with more than 2,000 cases.

In Maryland, officials say 27,117 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The 21228 ZIP code is listed among the state's top 10 for coronavirus cases.

What To Do If You Think You Have Coronavirus

These symptoms of the coronavirus can appear two to 14 days after exposure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell.

The number of confirmed cases of the virus is expected to climb with more testing, after the state secured 500,000 test kits from South Korea last month and Gov. Larry Hogan ordered universal testing at nursing homes in Maryland.
