The A1(M) in County Durham has reopened between J61 (Bowburn) and J60 (Sedgefield) following the recovery of an overturned HGV from earlier this morning.
The A1(M) southbound entry slip road at junction 61 was also closed.
National Highways Traffic Officers attended the scene to assist with traffic management. Specialist vehicle recovery were also at the scene.
Traffic was being diverted via the solid circle diversion symbol.
In a tweet at 1.54am National Highways: North-East said: "Update....The overturned HGV has been recovered from the scene and the #A1M southbound between J61 and J60 near #Sedgefield has been reopened. There are no residual delays on the approach."
An update at 1.35am from traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "A1(M) Southbound re-opened, recovery work completed and accident cleared from J61 A688 Tursdale Road (Bowburn) to J60 A689 (Bradbury).
"Closed since 00:30."
