CSC Investments, the Panera Bread franchisee that operates 10 bakery-cafes in Eastern Tennessee and Asheville, N.C., has chosen Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., for its newest location. The new bakery-cafe will open in August at 2620 Battlefield Parkway.

It is near Logans Roadhouse and O'Charleys.

CSC Investments will also open other Panera Bread locations in Knoxville later this year.

The skilled artisan bread bakers at the Panera Bread bakery-cafe in Fort Oglethorpe will bring customers 16 different varieties of handcrafted, freshly baked bread each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These specialty breads serve as the foundation for the entire bakery-cafe menu— including made-to-order sandwiches, tossed-to-order salads and soup served in bread bowls. In addition, Panera Bread offers a variety of fresh bagels, pastries, sweets and a selection of hot and cold beverages.

“Every day, at every bakery-cafe in the country, our artisan bakers handcraft and bake each loaf from scratch, using all-natural ingredients to ensure the highest quality breads,” David Williams, general manager of the new bakery-cafe. “We are thrilled to introduce to Fort Oglethorpe residents our artisan breadmaking tradition and the warm, welcoming environment of the Panera Bread bakery-cafe.”

Panera Bread bakery-cafes, defined by special features like real china, overstuffed chairs and cozy conversation areas, have set the standard in the popular and growing specialty foods market segment. In addition, free wireless fidelity (WIFI) internet access will be offered in the bakery-cafe in Fort Oglethorpe.

The new Panera Bread bakery-cafe will create approximately 60 new jobs for area residents. Available positions include bakers, sandwich makers, food preppers, cashiers, bussers and dishwashers. For information regarding employment at the new Panera Bread, contact David Williams at the bakery-cafe.

Currently operating more than 741 bakery-cafes (226 company-owned and 515 franchised) in 35 states, Panera Bread trades on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol PNRA. Panera reported revenue of $1.241 billion in 2004.

Panera Bread owns and franchises bakery-cafes under the Panera Bread and Saint Louis Bread Co. names. The company is the leader in the emerging specialty bread/cafe category due to its unique bread combined with a quick, casual dining experience. As released in the February 16, 2005 earnings statement, Panera Bread operates 741 bakery-cafes (226 company-owned and 515 franchised).
