Between keeping the house stocked amid empty supermarkets and the constant hand washing, there are a lot of things to worry about as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across New Jersey — not to mention, of course, the health of your family.

One thing that could get overlooked in the whirlwind of everything is making sure there are enough supplies for the family pet.

To make sure you have everything you need for your pet during this time — whether that’s a dog, cat, goldfish, rabbit or otherwise — head over to Petco, Chewy, PetSmart or Amazon, all of which deliver to your home.

Petco offers one-to-two day delivery with free shipping on orders over $35, and offers 35% off your first order upon joining their Repeat Delivery program.

Chewy also offers one-to-two day delivery with free shipping on orders over $49, but notes that “due to high demand, current delivery times are running considerably longer than usual.” They also have an “autoship” program where you can save 30% on your first order.

PetSmart offers home delivery services as well as curbside pick-up, which allows customers to get their items without having to go inside a store.

Amazon has included pet supplies as one of its six essential-item categories, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long for deliveries. They offer 50% off dog treats and and dog food with their Subscribe & Save program.

Here are some suggestions to put on your shopping list while you’re stocking up:

Food

Coronavirus or not, pets have to eat, too. Make sure you’re stocked up on dog food, cat food or otherwise.

Medication

Petco partners with local pharmacies and fulfills prescriptions from veterinarian visits from the past 12 months. Its list of prescription pet medication can be found here.

Cleaning Supplies

Cleanliness is as important as ever, and that should extend to the pets. For cats, stock up on litter. For dogs, options include stain-removing spray, odor eliminator and carpet cleaner. For fish and reptiles, get a vacuum to keep the bowl clean and a filter for the water.

Home Improvement

Get your dog a new house to rest in away from his usual spot on the couch. Get your cat a new litter box. Add some flair to the fish tank with any number of SpongeBob SquarePants props, including his house, the Krusty Krab and downtown Bikini Bottom. Change things up — if nothing else, it could give you some levity and a fun activity to do with the family.

Toys

Get your dog a new chew toy, your cat a new scratcher or your hamster a new wheel.
