12:30 PM: FLASH FLOOD WARNING for western parts of Mobile & Washington Counties in AL and eastern parts of George and Greene Counties in MS. 4-6″ of rain has fallen within the warning with localized amounts up to 9″. Rain bands moving through are capable of adding another 1-2″ over a short time period.
11:45 AM: The FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been trimmed back and now only includes the western half of our area.
11:30 AM: FLASH FLOOD WARNING for Jackson County, MS until 2 PM.
10:00 AM: A WIND ADVISORY is in effect for our Coastal Counties until 1 PM today. Expect frequent gusts of 20-30 mph with a few gusts that could reach 40 mph.
6:20 AM: FLASH FLOOD WARNING for western Mobile and southwestern Washington Counties in AL and for eastern George and eastern Greene Counties in MS until 12:15 PM.
4:00 AM: The TROPICAL STORM WARNING has been canceled. It has been replaced by a wind advisory for most locations.
4:00 AM: Cristobal is now a depression as it moves north. Stay weather aware as will continue to feel effects through today.
1:47 AM: FLASH FLOOD WARNING for Northern half of Monroe and Conecuh County is AL and extreme Eastern Clarke County in AL until 7:45 AM. Warning location below.
12:45 AM: Cristobal contineus to slowly weaken as it moves northwest through easter Louisiana. Winds have dropped to 40 mph with a movement to the north northwest at 10 mph. See the forecast track below.
12:39 AM MON: NWS Mobile has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for Northern Greene County MS, Clarke County AL, Northern and Eastern Washington County in AL, and Northern Baldwin County AL until 6:45 AM. 2-3″ of rain have fallen with more on the way. Graphics can be found below.
11:55 PM – NWS Mobile has issued a Coastal Flood Warning in effect until 7 PM Monday for central Mobile and central Baldwin counties. There is also a high surf warning in effect until 7:00 PM Monday. 9-12 foot waves are expected through tomorrow. Graphics can be found below.
11:50 PM – Heavy rain associated with a rain band continues to move through our area. Flooding remains the main concern tonight.
10:38 PM – Flash Flood Warning in effect for central Baldwin, northern Mobile, southern Washington, NE George, and Greene counties until 4:45 AM Monday.
10:26 PM – Mobile Regional Airport has picked up over 5 inches of rain. This is the wettest day Mobile Regional Airport has had since January 1 of 2017.

9:00 PM: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect until 3:15 AM for southern Mobile County
7:24 PM: FLASH FLOOD WARNING in effect until 1:30 AM for southern Baldwin County in AL, and southern Escambia County and Santa Rosa County in FL. 3.5-5.5″ of rain has already fallen leading to the threat of flash flooding.
6:53 PM – LATEST FLOOD INFO: Much of the News 5 area is under a Flash Flood Watch (dark green fill) until 6 pm Monday. Parts of Jackson county (until 7:30 PM) and central Mobile county (until midnight) are under a Flash Flood Warning. Southern Baldwin and coastal NW FL are also under an Areal Flood Advisory until 10 PM. Lastly, coastal areas are under a Coastal Flood Advisory until 7 PM Monday. You can view these below.
6:00 PM: Flash Flood Warning for Mobile County including the City of Mobile until midnight.
5:00 PM – The National Hurricane Center says that Tropical Storm Cristobal has made landfall in at 5:00 PM along the coast of SE LA between the mouth of the Mississippi River and Grand Isle. Max winds still at 50 mph and pressure 992 mb.
4:30 PM: Flash Flood Warning for Jackson County MS until 7:30 PM. Up to 3 inches has already fallen; flash flooding is ongoing or will start shortly.

3:45 PM: The 4 PM update from the National Hurricane Center is in. Cristobal maintains 50 mph winds as it creeps north at 7 mph. Landfall is expected early this evening.

1 PM UPDATE ON CRISTOBAL
The storm is slowing down as it approaches the Southeast Louisiana Coast. Cristobal is moving north at 5 mph. Winds are holding at 50 mph. The storm is expected to make a landfall this afternoon or this evening.
Total rainfall of 4-8″ is possible through the rest of the day. The highest water rise will occur during high tide cycles. A TORNADO WATCH continues until 5 PM for Mobile and Baldwin Counties in AL and for Jackson and George Counties in MS.
12:37 PM: Dauphin Island, AL now reporting sustained tropical storm force winds.
11:42 AM: A WIND ADVISORY has been issued for Inland parts of Baldwin County AL, Escabmia , Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa County FL. It also includes Escambia County AL, Washington, and Clarke Counties in AL and for Greene County MS. 20-30 mph winds likely with gusts approaching 40 mph.
11:16 AM: Receiving reports from HAM Radio Operators and our own crews that HWY 193 at the entrance of the Dauphin Island Bridge is being blocked by washed up debris.
10:53 AM: Hurricane Hunters have found no change in strength with Cristobal. Winds are holding at 50 mph with a continued movement to the north at 12 mph. Landfall expected this afternoon on the Southeast Louisiana Coast. Coastal and inland flood threat and tornado risk continues into the afternoon and evening.
10:24 AM: Viosca Knoll, a seamount off the coast of the MS/LA border reported a wind gust of 64 mph.
9:59 AM: High tide cycles have begun on the Gulf Coast. Expect these tides to run 2-4 feet above normal leading to some coastal flooding.
9:32 AM: Tornado Warnings for Jackson County MS have been canceled.
9:28 AM: Tidal gauges at Bayou La Batre have surpassed 2 feet. Similar water rise expected later today in Mobile Bay. Coastal Flood Advisories continue.
9:24 AM: TORNADO WARNING for Jackson County MS until 9:45 AM. Storm near Ocean Springs moving northwest at 30 mph along I-10.
9:17 AM: TORNADO WARNING for Jackson County MS until 9:30 AM. Storm near Big Point moving west at 40 mph.
9:00 AM: A TORNADO WATCH is in effect for Mobile and Baldwin Counties in AL and for Jackson and George Counties in Mississippi until 5 PM. Brief tornadoes will be possible with the outer bands of Cristobal.
8:50 AM: From the National Weather Service in Mobile, AL – The environment near the coast has become favorable for the spawning of brief tornadoes as the outer bands of Cristobal move onshore. The tornado threat will likely shift inland during the afternoon hours for Southwest Alabama and Southeast Mississippi.
8:19 AM: The TORNADO WARNING for Southeast Baldwin County has been Canceled.
8:08 AM: A TORNADO WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR BALDWIN COUNTY UNTIL 8:45 AM. Storm is moving toward Summerdale, AL.
There is a TROPICAL STORM WARNING for George & Jackson Counties in MS, all of Mobile County, AL, central & southern Baldwin Counties, and coastal locations along the northwest Florida coast until further notice.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for most News 5 Counties until Monday evening. 3-6 inches of rain are likely within the watch, but locally higher amounts are possible.
A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY is in place through tomorrow evening. Flooding of 1-3 ft. above normally dry ground is possible, mainly during high tide. High tides today and tomorrow will be around midday.
There is a HIGH SURF WARNING in effect as waves could reach to more than 10 ft.
Parts of the News 5 area are included in either a marginal to slight risk for severe weather today. Isolated tornadoes will be possible with rain bands associated with Cristobal.
