Purse Theft, Spitting Man, DUI: Darien Cops

A purse was stolen while a woman was unloading her groceries into her car, police say.

DARIEN, IL — In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving a purse theft at a store, a man accused of spitting on another person, a sleeping woman charged with DUI and an egg-throwing incident. Here is information from the reports:

  • A customer at Jewel, 7335 Cass Ave., informed police that while she was unloading groceries into her car about noon Oct. 19, a person stole her purse from the shopping cart. The person was last seen in a dark blue pickup truck heading north on Cass. The loss was estimated at $560.
  • Kurt Jones, 36, of Downers Grove, was cited about 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of disorderly conduct. Jones was accused of spitting on another person at the store. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A resident in the 2000 block of Green Valley Road heard something striking the resident's house about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 24. The victim saw men in a gold SUV yelling. Broken eggs were found on the sidewalk and front windows.
  • Edream Brinson, 39, of Melrose Park, was arrested about 5 a.m. Oct. 25 at Plainfield Road and Cass Avenue on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, and stopping, parking or standing on the roadway. According to a police report, officers saw Brinson sleeping inside her car. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Tester Miller of Bartlett was cited about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 on Lemont Road on charges of driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and failure to yield when turning left. The suspect was arrested and given a date to appear in court.
