Two South Jersey community centers closing over New Jersey coronavirus concerns

Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford and Berlin Community Center in Berlin have both announced they will be closing because of concerns over coronavirus.

The Berlin Community Center was being closed as of Friday at midnight “for the protection of the public," read an announcement on the municipal website. Updates, according to the announcement, will be posted as they become available.

Riverwinds announced its closure at noon on Friday, adding it will remain closed through the month of March because of coronavirus.

They announced the closure by placing a notice from the township on its homepage. The closure includes "all activities, rentals, existing facility use applications and any/all West Deptford Township fields (including West Deptford Player Development Building)."

The notices stated that staff will reach out to those who rented the facility between Friday and March 31.

While other community centers in South Jersey have not announced closures, the Gloucester County YMCA stated it is not allowing members to bring in guests.
