City Line Bar and Grill in Albany will introduce a limited-edition, City Line-branded Jack Daniels whiskey during an event from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday (10/19). City Line owners and manager traveled to Tennessee to select a barrel of single-barrel Jack Daniels whiskey that has “CL Jack Whiskey” on the label. The bar bought the whole barrel, which produced 246 bottles exclusively for use at City Line.

Friday’s event, free and open to the public, including tastings of the namesake whiskey, drink specials, and City Line and Jack Daniels giveaways. CL Jack continues a City Line tradition started last year, when City Line released a small-batch bourbon with Knob Creek in August, followed in February by Strawberry Vanilla Bourbon Cider, produced with Nine Pin Cider Works in Albany. The CL Jack barrel is now at Nine Pin for use in a future collaboration. Additional limited-edition-beverage plans include partnerships with Common Roots Brewing in South Glens Falls and Patron tequila.

CL Jack will be available as a sipping whiskey or in special cocktails while supplies last. Some City Line-branded Knob Creek remains, but the Nine Pin sold out quickly, according to a spokeswoman.

“We wanted to be trend-setting and innovative,” said City line’s bar manager, Kim Aquino. She said, “Doing customized, cross-branding initiatives … sets us apart from other bars and restaurants in the Capital Region.” Of CL Jack, Aquino said, “It’s truly a whiskey for everyone, with tasting notes of toasty caramel and a fruit-forward finish. It’s excellent mixed in a cocktail or as a smooth sipper — especially enjoyable during the upcoming colder months.”

City Line, at 1200 Western Ave., is open from 11 a.m. until late daily.
