Scranton School Board seeks parents, teachers for reopening committee

Mar. 5—The Scranton School Board seeks people to serve on the Reopening Educational Advisory Committee to monitor the transition to in-person learning and assess the educational and emotional implications.

The committee, which will meet quarterly, will include two parents at the elementary level, two parents at the secondary level and two parents of special education students, one elementary teacher, one secondary teacher, one special education teacher, one elementary principal, one secondary principal, one mental health expert and several administrators.

Interested parties should submit, via email, a letter of interest, citing qualifications and the role sought, to Board Secretary Virginia Orr, Virginia.orr@ssdedu.org, no later than noon on March 12. After a review by administrators and school directors, the board will appoint the committee at the next board meeting.
