Waukesha County COVID-19 Cases On The Rise

Four of the five highest COVID-19 24-hour case counts have come in July, Waukesha health officials say.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Waukesha County with four of the five highest 24-hour case counts recorded in July.

According to the Waukesha County Health Department, Wednesday saw 51 new cases. Only May 27 stands higher, when 52 cases were reported.

Authorities say there were 328 active COVID-19 cases in the county as of Wednesday. Health officials say 1,139 cases, or roughly 75 percent of total patients, have recovered.

There have been 39 COVID-19-related deaths in the county to date.

July 4 was a high-water mark for positive case percentage in Waukesha county, when 9.9 percent of all tests came back positive. Since then, the percentage has dropped: 8.3 percent on Sunday, 4.2 percent on Monday, 4.4 percent on Tuesday and 5 percent on Wednesday.

The City of Waukesha has the most confirmed cases in the county with 442. New Berlin has the second most-numerous case count with 153. Menomonee Falls ranks third with 135 cases as of Wednesday.
