Three high school football games to watch in Week 5 in the Tuscaloosa area

The midpoint of the high school football season in the Tuscaloosa area has come, with several games being played this week with region implications. 

Here is a look at three top games this Friday:

American Christian Academy at Bibb County

ACA is a perfect 3-0 and is led by senior running back Brandon Waller, who has totaled 533 yards and seven touchdowns on 53 carries. 

Bibb County is also 3-0 and powered behind a defense that is allowing only 8.8 points per game. The Choctaws are led by senior running back and UCLA commit Deshun Murrell. 

ACA is the No. 1-ranked team and Bibb County is No. 2 ranked in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A rankings.

Northridge at Brookwood

Northridge is off to a 4-0 start after its blowout victory over Bessemer City last week. The Jaguars' defense continues to be dominant, holding opponents to six points per game. 

Brookwood is winless and look to get in the win column at home. Coach Mike Bramblett is getting some of his players back after several players needed to be quarantined due to COVID-19 precautions. 

Paul W. Bryant at Holt 

Paul W. Bryant is winless but continues to improve each week. Coach Eldrick Hill looks to get in the win column.

Holt is also winless on the field, with a forfeit victory. The Ironmen get another this week because the original opponent, Sumter Central, canceled its season. That means this game, technically, doesn't count, but both teams will be playing to win.

Holt is powered behind its do-it -all threat, Jordan De'shawn Driver, who tallied 330 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in last week's loss.
