Dublin Brush Fire Contained At 240 Acres

Smoke from the blaze was visible throughout the Tri-Valley.

DUBLIN, CA — Firefighters from multiple agencies worked to contain a brush fire in Dublin Friday afternoon. The fast-moving Harte Fire was reported in the 3800 block of Camino Loop at Twain Harte shortly before 2 p.m.

By 3:15 p.m., the fire had charred 240 acres and was 90 percent contained with forward progress stopped, according to the Alameda County Fire Department. By 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire announced the blaze was fully contained, although the agency said crews will remain on scene for several hours checking for hot spots.

A heavy air attack was used to slow the fire's "moderate to dangerous rate" of speed — three dozers, 19 engines and four air tankers were called to the scene, according to Cal Fire.

Smoke from the fire could be seen throughout Tri-Valley. Traffic on the eastbound I-580 backed up through Dublin and Pleasanton after the blaze broke out.

The heavy smoke prompted the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to issue an air quality advisory for the Tri-Valley area through Friday evening. Cities most impacted by the advisory are Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton.

Agencies that worked to douse the blaze included the Alameda County Fire Department, Cal Fire, Camp Parks Fire Department, East Bay Regional Parks Fire Department, Fremont Fire Department and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
