As fall approaches, you don't want to be cooped up at home while others enjoy the performers visiting Des Moines.

These six events presented by Des Moines Performing Arts — concerts, comedy shows, and kids' events — are must-attends for September and October.

Kitten Bomb Comedy — Off Script: Scenic Route

In need of a good laugh? "Kitten Bomb Comedy — Off Script: Scenic Route" will be performed only in Des Moines, showcasing an two-act improv play at the Stoner Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Sept.14. The show will include improvised lights, sound and script. If you like crowd inclusion, you will have a chance to help create the show, as the audience decides critical plot points. The theme will be shaping a vacation adventure.

Run time is an hour and 30 minutes. Tickets are on sale for $12 and can be purchased at desmoinesperformingarts.org.

Comedy Xperiment

That's not the only comedy show coming to town. Comedy Xperiment is back for another season at the Stoner Theater from Sept. 20 to May 2. It's the longest-running improvisation show in central Iowa, founded in 2003 when a group of performers decided to ditch their scripts to tell and create untold stories.

Tickets range from $12 to $25. Purchase yours at desmoinesperformingarts.org.

Fam Jam featuring Justin Roberts

It's time for moments with the family, and the event is free! One of the three Fam Jam events will take place at Cowles Commons starting at 11 a.m. on Sept. 29. Fam Jam will feature a live children's band along with three-time Grammy-nominated Justin Roberts. Roberts has graced the indie family music scene for 20 years. Attendees can also expect bounce houses, art projects, food trucks and more.

Boyz II Men (from left, Wanya Morris, Nathan Morris and Shawn Stockman) will perform Aug. 14 at the Indiana State Fair.

Boyz II Men

It's never the end of the road with Boyz II Men. The legendary rhythm and blues group plans to bring their classic hits to the Des Moines Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. on Oct.1. The Grammy-winning act has stood the test of time with over 64 million albums sold. Fans can expect to hear the group's timeless tracks such as "Motownphilly," "I'll Make Love to You" and the sweet vocals of "One Sweet Day."

Tickets go for $42 to $125. Purchase yours at desmoinesperformingarts.org.
